Bathroom Remodeling

Bathrooms built from the framing up.

We pull the room to the studs, get the structure right, and build a bathroom that holds for decades — not one that looks good on day one and fails behind the tile in year three.

The approach

A bathroom is only as good as what you can’t see.

The tile is the last ten percent. What decides whether a bathroom lasts is the framing, the subfloor, the waterproofing, and the order those go in. We build the parts nobody photographs the same way we build the parts everybody does.

The build · field method

Three things we don’t cut corners on.

The wet wall assembly

Every wall in a shower or tub surround gets cement board — not drywall, not green board. It’s taped with alkali-resistant mesh, skim-coated with mortar, and every screw hole is filled. Only once that’s sealed does the roll-on moisture barrier go on. Then, and only then, the tile. Get that order wrong and water finds the framing in a few years.

MATERIAL  ·  Cement board, alkali-resistant mesh tape
BARRIER  ·  Roll-on membrane over sealed board
NICHES  ·  Custom framed — no pre-fab plastic

Set the way they’ve been set for a century

Tubs go in on mortar beds — the method that’s held for a hundred years. A tub set in mortar doesn’t shift, doesn’t rock, doesn’t open a gap at the wall over time. Showers are built in pans with solid cement floors. The pan is the pan.

TUBS  ·  Full mortar bed, no flex
SHOWERS  ·  Solid cement pan floor
SCOPE  ·  Tub-to-shower conversions · walk-ins

Floors that are actually flat

Tile floors get leveled with floor leveler before a single tile goes down, and we check it with lasers — not a four-foot level and a good eye. No lippage between tiles, no high corner you feel with a bare foot.

PREP  ·  Self-leveling underlayment
TOLERANCE  ·  Laser-checked, zero lippage
CABINETRY  ·  Vanities & trim — same carpenter
